Grand Hyatt Gurgaon has appointed Chiranjib De as Area Director of Human Resources, adding a hospitality HR professional with more than two decades of experience to its leadership team. De has spent a significant part of his career with Hyatt, holding human resources positions across several of the group’s properties in India.
In his new role, De will lead the Human Resources function at Grand Hyatt Gurgaon while also taking on area-level HR responsibilities for Hyatt properties across North India. His mandate will cover human resources operations, talent development and colleague engagement across the assigned hotels and resorts.
This leadership change supports Hyatt’s expansion, contributing to leadership appointments in hospitality.
To Lead Human Resources Across North India
As Area Director of Human Resources, De will oversee the HR function at Grand Hyatt Gurgaon while supporting Hyatt properties across the North India region. His responsibilities will include managing core human resources operations, developing talent and strengthening colleague engagement.
The role combines property-level HR leadership with broader area responsibilities, requiring coordination across multiple Hyatt properties. De’s experience within the group gives him exposure to different hotel environments and HR requirements, supporting his transition into the expanded regional mandate.
At Grand Hyatt Gurgaon, his focus will include maintaining effective HR operations and supporting the development and engagement of colleagues. At the area level, he will work across Hyatt properties in North India on people-related priorities.
More Than Two Decades of Human Resources Experience
De began his Hyatt career at Hyatt Regency Kolkata, where he joined as a Human Resources Officer. He later progressed to the position of Personnel Manager, gaining experience in hotel human resources operations and employee management.
In 2014, De moved to Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa as Director of Human Resources. The position marked a progression into senior HR leadership, with responsibility for the property’s people function.
Four years later, in 2018, he joined Grand Hyatt Goa as Director of Human Resources. His career continued within Hyatt, with roles that expanded his exposure to human resources management across different hotel operations.
Before taking up his latest appointment, De served as Cluster Director of Human Resources at Grand Hyatt Kochi. In that position, he was responsible for human resources operations across Hyatt hotels and resorts in Kerala, giving him experience in managing HR priorities across multiple properties rather than within a single hotel.
His career with Hyatt spans several stages of human resources leadership, from his early role at Hyatt Regency Kolkata to senior positions overseeing HR functions at individual and cluster levels.
Focus on Talent and Colleague Engagement
De’s new mandate places talent development and colleague engagement alongside day-to-day human resources operations. These areas will be central to his work at Grand Hyatt Gurgaon as well as his responsibilities across Hyatt’s North India portfolio.
At property level, the HR function plays a role in supporting staffing, colleague development and engagement while working closely with hotel leadership. With his previous experience in cluster HR management, De will also bring exposure to coordinating people strategies across multiple Hyatt operations.
His appointment therefore expands his responsibilities from a cluster-level role in Kerala to an area position covering Hyatt properties across North India.
Supporting Hyatt’s People Strategy
The appointment comes as De continues his career with Hyatt after holding HR leadership positions across Kolkata and Goa before moving into cluster-level responsibilities in Kerala. His progression within the group has included both individual property roles and broader multi-property assignments.
At Grand Hyatt Gurgaon, De will combine his hotel-level HR leadership with his area responsibilities, focusing on operational HR, talent development and colleague engagement. His experience across Hyatt properties is expected to support the hotel and the wider North India portfolio as the group continues to develop its people and organisational priorities.
