Indri has announced that all its bottles will now feature the Indian Malt Whisky Association (IMWA) Certification Hologram, reinforcing its commitment to authenticity, transparency, and globally recognised whisky-making standards.
The initiative marks an important milestone for India’s rapidly growing single malt whisky industry by providing consumers, retailers, distributors, and whisky enthusiasts with a visible assurance that the product adheres to stringent production standards established by the Indian Malt Whisky Association (IMWA).
Reinforcing Authenticity in Indian Single Malts
The IMWA Certification Hologram has been introduced to strengthen consumer confidence while safeguarding the credibility and integrity of India’s premium single malt category.
The certification confirms that the whisky has been produced in accordance with IMWA’s technical standards, helping distinguish authentic Indian single malts as the category continues to gain global recognition.
IMWA Production Standards
Under IMWA guidelines, an authentic Indian Single Malt Whisky must be produced exclusively from 100% malted barley, distilled entirely at a single distillery using copper pot stills, crafted only with malted barley, water, and yeast, and matured for a minimum of three years in oak casks with a maximum capacity of 700 litres.
These standards are designed to promote transparency, traceability, and consistency while ensuring consumers receive a genuine single malt whisky experience.
Leadership Perspective
Commenting on the initiative, Praveen Malviya, CEO, Piccadily Agro Industries Limited, said:
“The IMWA Certification Hologram is a significant step towards strengthening the credibility of Indian Single Malt Whisky on the global stage by assuring consumers that the whisky they are enjoying conforms to internationally accepted production standards. We are proud to support this initiative and believe it will play an important role in shaping the future of Indian Single Malts.”
Supporting India’s Growing Whisky Reputation
Established in 2024, the Indian Malt Whisky Association (IMWA) was created to preserve, protect, and promote authentic Indian malt whisky through certification, technical standards, and industry advocacy.
Over the past decade, Indian single malts have earned international recognition through prestigious awards and growing acceptance in global markets. The introduction of the IMWA Certification Hologram represents the next phase in the category’s evolution by complementing product quality with enhanced transparency and consumer trust.
With the new certification now appearing on Indri bottles, the brand further reinforces its commitment to maintaining globally recognised standards while supporting the continued growth of India’s premium single malt whisky industry.
