Ventive Hospitality has achieved a significant milestone in its marine conservation journey with the planting of more than 10,000 coral fragments across its Maldives properties under the Holistic Approach to Reef Protection (HARP) programme. The initiative spans Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, Anantara Veli Maldives Resort, and Naladhu Private Island Maldives, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to preserving one of the world’s most fragile marine ecosystems.
The milestone coincides with Anantara Hotels & Resorts’ 25th anniversary, highlighting the brand’s continued focus on sustainable hospitality and environmental stewardship.
Supporting Reef Restoration in the Maldives
Since its launch in 2017, the HARP programme has supported the growth of over 10,000 corals, contributing to reef restoration, biodiversity enhancement, and the long-term resilience of the Maldives’ marine ecosystem.
Coral reefs support nearly 25 per cent of all marine life despite covering less than one per cent of the ocean floor, making conservation efforts increasingly important as reefs face growing threats from climate change, rising sea temperatures, and human activity.
Beyond reef restoration, the programme also encourages guest participation through coral adoption initiatives, guided coral planting experiences, educational programmes, and marine encounters designed to promote awareness of ocean conservation.

Building a Personal Connection with Conservation
Oriana Migliaccio, Marine Biologist at Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and Naladhu Resorts, highlighted the long-term nature of reef restoration.
“Coral restoration is patient, long term work. Every fragment must be carefully monitored as it adapts, grows and becomes a functioning reef. Through HARP, we have grown more than 10,000 corals since 2017, but the programme’s value extends beyond the number. These corals create habitats for fish and other marine life, while enabling guests to understand and participate in reef protection. Seeing returning guests coming back to check on corals that they adopt shows that conservation becomes most powerful when people develop a personal connection with the reef.”
A PhD in Life and Biomolecular Sciences and a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, Oriana continues to lead the programme’s scientific and educational initiatives across the three resorts.
