Since commencing operations in August 2022, Akasa Air has progressively expanded its fleet to meet growing demand in India’s aviation market. The latest delivery supports the airline’s longer-term strategy to increase operational scale, expand its network and strengthen connectivity across its markets.
Akasa Air Prepares for Boeing 737 MAX 10 Entry
Akasa Air is preparing to introduce the Boeing 737 MAX 10, the largest variant of the 737 MAX family, with its first delivery expected in 2027. The aircraft received certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration on October 20, 2026, clearing a significant regulatory milestone towards commercial service.
The Boeing 737 MAX 10 can accommodate up to 230 passengers in a maximum-density configuration, while typical two-class layouts are expected to seat approximately 185 to 210 passengers. Its increased capacity is designed to enable airlines to offer more seats per flight on high-demand routes.
Large Boeing 737 MAX Order Supports Future Growth
Akasa Air has ordered 90 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft and has a total order book of 226 Boeing 737 MAX jets across variants. The order book includes 150 additional aircraft ordered in 2024, supporting the airline’s plans for long-term fleet expansion.
As the carrier continues to add aircraft and prepare for the introduction of the MAX 10, fleet growth is expected to support additional capacity, network development and its broader expansion strategy in India’s aviation market.
