Nanuku Resort Fiji, managed by Storey Hospitality, has appointed Vuli Cakacaka as General Manager. The appointment marks a progression for Cakacaka, who joined the Pacific Harbour resort in 2024 as Resort Manager and now takes responsibility for its overall operations.
A Fijian hospitality professional, Cakacaka brings more than 23 years of experience across Fiji and international markets. Born on Vatoa Island in Fiji’s Lau Group and raised in Suva, he began his hospitality career in Fiji before taking on roles across the country’s outer islands and overseas destinations.
The addition aligns with the hospitality sector’s leadership strategy, reflecting executive movements in hotels.
Vuli Cakacaka Promoted to General Manager
Cakacaka moves into the General Manager position after serving as Resort Manager at Nanuku Resort Fiji since 2024. His career has covered resort operations, guest services, team leadership and broader hospitality management.
In his new position, he will oversee the resort’s overall operations, guest experience and financial performance. His responsibilities will also include operational planning, team development and maintaining service standards across the property.
Experience Across Fiji and International Markets
With more than two decades in hospitality, Cakacaka has built his career across Fiji and international destinations. His professional background includes operational and guest-facing responsibilities, as well as leadership roles within resort environments.
His experience across Fiji’s outer islands has also contributed to his understanding of the country’s diverse hospitality landscape and the operational requirements of resort properties.
Supporting Fijian Hospitality Talent
People development forms another area of Cakacaka’s professional focus. He has been involved in the development of local hospitality talent and will continue supporting training and professional growth opportunities for Fijian hospitality professionals in his new role.
At Nanuku Resort Fiji, this focus will sit alongside his wider responsibilities for resort operations, guest experience and business performance.
Focus on Resort Operations and Guest Experience
As General Manager, Cakacaka will oversee the day-to-day and broader operational requirements of Nanuku Resort Fiji. His remit covers guest experience, financial performance, team leadership and service standards.
The role will also involve operational planning and continued development of the resort’s teams, bringing together his operational experience and knowledge of the Fijian hospitality market.
Leadership Approach at Nanuku Resort Fiji
Speaking about his appointment, Cakacaka highlighted the role of people in delivering a resort experience.
“The true strength of a resort lives in the people who deliver the experience,” said Vuli Cakacaka. “I am honoured to lead the team at Nanuku Resort and build on the strong foundation that has been established, while continuing our tradition of personalized luxury. Together, we will continue creating meaningful guest experiences while celebrating the culture, people and natural beauty that make Nanuku so special.”
His comments reflect a leadership approach centred on team development, guest experience and the resort’s connection with Fijian culture and its surroundings.
