Lufthansa Group will expand its Japan services during the summer 2027 flight schedule, adding capacity across Lufthansa and SWISS in response to increased demand. The expanded programme will include the resumption of Lufthansa’s seasonal Frankfurt–Nagoya service and a new daily Frankfurt–Tokyo-Narita connection.
From March 2027, Lufthansa Group airlines are scheduled to operate up to 50 flights per week to Japan, covering Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka and Nagoya. The programme will be operated by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and ITA Airways, with additional booking options available through joint venture partner ANA.
Lufthansa Resumes Frankfurt–Nagoya Service
Lufthansa will resume its seasonal direct service between Frankfurt and Nagoya on March 29, 2027. The route will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The service will be operated as flight LH736, departing Frankfurt at 2:10 p.m. and arriving in Nagoya at 9:35 a.m. the following day. The return flight, LH737, will depart Nagoya at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 6:30 p.m.
The route will provide Nagoya with a direct connection to Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub, offering onward connectivity to destinations across Europe and South America.
Nagoya, located in Aichi Prefecture, is an important centre for Japan’s automotive and manufacturing industries, making the route relevant to both business and leisure travel.
Daily Frankfurt–Tokyo-Narita Service
Lufthansa will also introduce a daily Frankfurt–Tokyo-Narita service from March 28, 2027.
Flight LH710 will depart Frankfurt at 1:45 p.m. and arrive at Tokyo-Narita at 9:30 a.m. the following day. The return service, LH711, will depart Tokyo-Narita at 11:20 a.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 6:40 p.m.
The new service will complement Lufthansa’s existing daily connections between Frankfurt and Munich and Tokyo-Haneda during the summer 2027 schedule.
The additional Narita service will give Lufthansa customers another direct option between its Frankfurt hub and the Japanese capital.
Boeing 787-9 to Operate New Services
Both the Frankfurt–Nagoya and Frankfurt–Tokyo-Narita services will be operated with Lufthansa’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft featuring the airline’s Allegris cabin configuration.
The aircraft will offer 28 Business Class seats, 28 Premium Economy Class seats and 231 Economy Class seats.
The deployment of the Boeing 787-9 on the routes will provide passengers with Lufthansa’s latest long-haul cabin configuration across the three travel classes.
SWISS Increases Tokyo Services
SWISS will also increase its Japan operations during summer 2027, with up to seven weekly flights from Zurich to Tokyo-Narita.
The additional services will contribute to the Lufthansa Group’s overall expansion in the Japanese market, with the group planning to operate up to 50 weekly flights across its four Japanese destinations.
The programme will connect Japan with the group’s European hubs through a combination of services operated by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and ITA Airways.
Up to 50 Weekly Flights to Japan
Across its airline brands, Lufthansa Group plans to offer up to 50 flights per week to Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka and Nagoya during summer 2027.
The expanded schedule will increase the number of direct travel options between Japan and Europe, while providing connections through the group’s major European hubs.
Passengers will also have additional booking options through ANA, Lufthansa Group’s joint venture partner, further extending connectivity between the two markets.
Expanding Connectivity Between Europe and Japan
The summer 2027 schedule represents an increase in Lufthansa Group’s capacity to Japan, with additional services across both Lufthansa and SWISS.
The Frankfurt–Nagoya resumption will restore a direct connection to one of Japan’s key industrial regions, while the new daily Frankfurt–Tokyo-Narita service will add another link between Germany and the Japanese capital.
With up to 50 weekly flights planned across four Japanese destinations, the group will strengthen its network between Japan and Europe for the summer travel season.
