Taj Expands Presence with a New Greenfield Project
The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel in Puducherry. This greenfield project marks a significant addition to the company’s luxury portfolio in South India.

Strategic Expansion in a Growing Market
Speaking about the development, Ms. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said,
“Puducherry continues to see growth in domestic tourism and a return of international travellers, strengthening its position as a leisure destination. The upcoming Taj Pondicherry will meet the increasing demand for large-scale social gatherings and events. We are pleased to collaborate with Mr. M.K. Rajagopalan on this project.”
Taj Pondicherry: A Luxury Destination by the Bay
Spread across 52 acres, the 180-key Taj Pondicherry will overlook the Bay of Bengal. The property will sit close to White Town, a well-known heritage area. It will feature an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty dining venues, a bar, and a lounge. Guests can enjoy wellness treatments under the J Wellness Circle brand, along with a gym, swimming pool, and other leisure spaces.
The hotel will include dedicated event facilities, including a 10,700-square-foot indoor banquet hall and expansive beachfront lawns, making it an ideal choice for weddings, conferences, and large gatherings.
