Courtyard by Marriott Planned for Somnath

NILE Hospitality has announced the signing of Courtyard by Marriott Somnath, expanding its portfolio of globally branded hotels and strengthening its presence in Gujarat’s spiritual and leisure hospitality market.

The signing reflects continued hospitality investment in high-demand pilgrimage destinations, where organised branded accommodation remains an emerging growth opportunity.

The agreement strengthens Marriott’s position in the market, aligning with developments across hotel signings and announcements.

120-Room Hotel Planned in Pilgrimage Destination

The upcoming Courtyard by Marriott Somnath will feature 120 rooms and suites, designed to cater to domestic travellers visiting one of India’s major pilgrimage destinations.

The property will also include banquet facilities and a swimming pool, broadening its appeal beyond accommodation to meetings, social events, and leisure stays.

As pilgrimage destinations continue to attract higher travel volumes, demand for organised hospitality infrastructure has steadily increased, particularly among travellers seeking branded accommodation experiences.

The addition of internationally branded hotels in such markets reflects changing guest preferences and evolving hospitality demand patterns.

    Expanding Hospitality Presence in Gujarat

The signing further strengthens NILE Hospitality’s presence in Gujarat, where the company already operates across destinations including Gir and Dwarka.

Its hospitality portfolio in the state remains focused on leisure-driven and spiritual tourism destinations, reflecting a targeted expansion strategy in high-footfall travel markets.

Gujarat continues to attract hospitality investment across religious tourism, wildlife tourism, and regional leisure travel, making it an increasingly active hotel development market.

Somnath, in particular, remains one of India’s prominent year-round pilgrimage destinations.

    Leadership Perspective

Commenting on the signing, Vikram Singh Chauhan, Founder & CEO, NILE Hospitality, said,

“We are delighted that this signing solidifies our reputation for bringing world class hotels to sectors markets where destination-lead hospitality is much anticipated. At NILE, we are guided by a clear principle : to grow with purpose, to create enduring value, and to bring and deliver transformative properties and experiences that resonate with our guests. As we bring our hotels to the country’s most extraordinary destinations, our commitment remains focused on attention, quality and the sustainable success of our hotels. I am excited to bring the brand Courtyard By Marriott to Somnath and the opportunity to gently redefine hospitality standards in this route.”

Sharing the ownership perspective, Hitesh Mohandas Ramchandani, Partner, Somnath Synergy Resorts LLP, said,

“Somnath’s prominence as a year-round pilgrimage hub presents a compelling opportunity for quality hospitality development. Recognising the growing demand for internationally benchmarked accommodation and event infrastructure, we envisioned a project that elevates the city’s hospitality offering. Aligning with the global standards of Marriott International, along with our partnership with NILE Hospitality, positions us strongly to deliver a differentiated, high-value asset for this market.”

Growing Demand for Branded Pilgrimage Hospitality

India’s pilgrimage hospitality sector has increasingly emerged as an important development segment for hotel operators and investors.

Improving connectivity, rising domestic travel, and changing guest expectations have contributed to growing demand for organised accommodation in historically underserved religious tourism destinations.

Hotel development in such markets increasingly extends beyond room inventory to include events infrastructure, food and beverage offerings, and lifestyle amenities.

Courtyard by Marriott Somnath appears positioned to serve this broader hospitality demand.

Strategic Portfolio Growth for NILE Hospitality

The signing reflects NILE Hospitality’s continued focus on expanding through branded partnerships in destination-led markets.

Hospitality operators pursuing asset-light and management-led growth models increasingly target locations where branded supply remains limited but travel demand is established.

Somnath’s year-round pilgrimage traffic makes it a strategically relevant addition to such a portfolio.

Strengthening Marriott-Branded Hospitality in Emerging Markets

The addition of a Courtyard by Marriott property in Somnath also reflects the continued expansion of global hospitality brands into secondary and destination-driven Indian markets.

Business and lifestyle hotel brands are increasingly adapting to mixed-demand destinations where business travel, social events, and leisure demand intersect.

Branded hotel development in pilgrimage markets remains a growing trend within Indian hospitality.

    Outlook

With 120 rooms, event infrastructure, and branded positioning in a high-demand pilgrimage market, Courtyard by Marriott Somnath is expected to strengthen organised hospitality options in the destination.
