Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has signed a strategic alliance with Cygnett Hotels & Resorts to introduce its La Quinta by Wyndham and Registry Collection Hotels brands to India, the companies said Friday.
Under the exclusive 10‑year agreement, Wyndham and Cygnett will bring over 60 hotels to India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, with the first properties slated to open by the end of 2026.
Dimitris Manikis, president for EMEA at Wyndham, said, “This partnership is the next chapter in Wyndham’s Eurasia growth story, with India as a key strategic market that we’ve grown alongside for decades. Cygnett shares our commitment to sustainable, long‑term growth, while meeting the rising demand from travellers seeking experiences that blend comfort, authenticity and excellence”.
The agreement covers two flagship brands:
- La Quinta by Wyndham, positioned in the upper‑midscale segment, will see over 50 hotels launched across the region. These will include new builds and conversions, with the first locations expected to open by late 2026.
- Registry Collection Hotels, a luxury boutique brand, will enter India through a non‑exclusive 10‑year deal covering 10 properties co‑branded under Cygnett’s Anamore label. The first property is also expected by 2026.
Sarbendra Sarkar, founder and managing director of Cygnett Hotels, said, “Teaming up with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts gives us the scale, global recognition and brand strength to expand rapidly and deliver outstanding value to our owners and guests. We are proud to help grow La Quinta and Registry Collection Hotels, two global brands that perfectly complement our portfolio and align with the rising demand in the region for high‑quality hotel and guest experiences”.
Commercial data shows domestic travel spending in India reached $186 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow 12 percent annually. Wyndham noted that this alliance supports its plan to meet increasing demand in infrastructure‑driven and aspirational markets.
Wyndham currently operates established brands in India, including Ramada, Days Inn and Wyndham Grand, and this alliance signals a strategic move toward expanding luxury and upper‑midscale offerings in tier‑two and tier‑three markets.
The partnership reflects a broader shift in India’s hospitality sector toward branded inventory, supported by rising infrastructure investments, growing middle‑class travel, and enhanced international tourist arrivals.
Wyndham and Cygnett aim to launch the first La Quinta and Registry Collection hotels in India by late 2026 as part of a 60‑property rollout across South Asia over the next decade.
