Aejaz Shaikh Moves Into Hotel Leadership Role at Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage

Indian Hotels Company Limited has appointed Aejaz Shaikh as Hotel Manager at Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage.

Aejaz Shaikh takes on the new leadership role with more than 20 years of hospitality experience spanning hotel operations, commercial strategy, revenue leadership, and market positioning. His appointment comes as luxury hospitality operators continue to strengthen property leadership with executives who bring both operational and commercial expertise.

Having previously led commercial strategy for the Taj Cidade de Goa complex, Aejaz transitions into a broader operational leadership role at the heritage property.

The move supports Taj’s leadership development, contributing to hospitality leadership updates.

Hotel Manager Appointment at Goa Luxury Property

In his new role as Hotel Manager, Aejaz Shaikh will oversee operational leadership at Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage, one of Goa’s established luxury hospitality properties under the Taj brand.

Hotel managers within luxury hospitality environments are responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, maintaining service standards, aligning commercial and operational objectives, and supporting the broader guest experience framework.

At destination luxury hotels, leadership roles of this nature carry additional significance due to the complexity of demand segments spanning leisure travellers, weddings, events, and corporate business.

Aejaz’s appointment reflects IHCL’s continued emphasis on leadership continuity and internal talent progression within its hospitality portfolio.

More Than Two Decades of Hospitality Experience

Aejaz Shaikh brings over 20 years of hospitality industry experience to the role.

His professional expertise spans hotel operations, sales leadership, revenue management, business development, commercial strategy, and hospitality market positioning.

Over the course of his career, he has built experience across guest-facing and commercially driven hospitality functions, creating a leadership profile that combines operational understanding with revenue-focused strategic execution.

In the hospitality sector, leaders with commercial depth increasingly transition into broader operational roles as hotel management demands stronger integration between guest experience delivery and business performance.

    Previous Commercial Leadership Role

Before this appointment, Aejaz Shaikh served as Director of Sales and Marketing for Taj Cidade de Goa Horizon and Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage.

In that role, he was responsible for overseeing commercial strategy across key hotel revenue streams including rooms, food and beverage, events, and other business verticals.

His mandate included driving business across MICE, weddings, and leisure travel segments, all of which remain strategically important to destination hospitality markets such as Goa.

Managing revenue across multiple hospitality demand segments requires strong market understanding, partnership development, commercial planning, and alignment with brand positioning objectives.

His previous leadership role within the same hospitality ecosystem provides continuity as he transitions into hotel management.

Understanding of the Goa Hospitality Market

Aejaz’s experience in Goa’s luxury hospitality market is a significant part of his leadership profile.

Goa continues to remain one of India’s most competitive hospitality destinations, driven by a mix of leisure tourism, destination weddings, social events, and corporate travel.

Leadership in such markets requires familiarity with seasonality, guest expectations, premium positioning, and commercial market behaviour.

His existing understanding of the destination and business environment adds strategic relevance to this appointment.

    Academic Background

Aejaz Shaikh holds academic qualifications from the University of Madras and the University of Mumbai. His educational background includes studies focused on business management, marketing, and hospitality.

This academic foundation complements his operational and commercial hospitality experience.

    Leadership Commentary

Commenting on the appointment, Vivek Batra, General Manager, said:

“Aejaz’s strong commercial acumen and deep understanding of the Goa market make him well suited to lead the hotel. We are confident that his leadership will further strengthen the hotel’s positioning and drive continued excellence in guest experiences.”

    Outlook

With over 20 years of hospitality experience and prior commercial leadership within the Taj Cidade de Goa complex, Aejaz Shaikh steps into the Hotel Manager role at Taj Cidade de Goa Heritage with an established understanding of the property’s market and business dynamics.

His appointment strengthens the operational leadership team at the Goa luxury property.
