Taj Chandigarh has announced the appointment of Surinder Singh as the new Area Director – Operations & General Manager. With a remarkable career spanning over three decades, Singh brings a wealth of experience, strategic vision, and operational excellence to his new role.
Overseeing Operations Across Northern India
In this dual role, Surinder Singh will oversee hotels and operations across Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. His focus will be on driving revenue growth through experiential hospitality, enhancing guest satisfaction, and introducing innovative initiatives that align with Taj’s legacy of luxury and service excellence.

Throughout his career with the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), Singh has led several prestigious properties, including Taj Mahal Lucknow, Blue Diamond Pune – IHCL SeleQtions, Vivanta New Delhi Dwarka, and Taj City Centre, Gurugram, where he previously served as Area Director – Operations for Delhi NCR & Haryana. His earlier tenure as General Manager of Taj Chandigarh adds a sense of homecoming to his current appointment.

Under Singh’s leadership, Taj City Centre, Gurugram achieved exceptional performance across revenue, guest satisfaction, and employee engagement metrics. His operational philosophy blends excellence with responsible hospitality, setting benchmarks for both performance and environmental stewardship.

He has actively collaborated with organizations such as the Pratham Education Foundation to create skill development programs for aspiring professionals. In addition, he holds significant leadership positions as Vice President of the Hotel & Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRAI) and Executive Committee Member of the Hotel Association of India (HAI), further amplifying his influence in shaping India’s hospitality landscape.
