Hyatt Regency Chennai has appointed Rizwaan Qureshi as Master Chef for Indian cuisine, bringing more than two decades of international culinary experience to the role, the hotel announced.
Qureshi, known for his expertise in Awadhi cuisine, hails from a distinguished culinary lineage. His family’s culinary traditions emphasize preservation of heritage through food. “What you taste today is not just food — it’s a page from the family’s history book, lovingly passed down from generation to generation,” the hotel said in a statement.
With more than 22 years of experience, Qureshi has worked in India, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and the United Kingdom. He has led kitchen teams of over 30 chefs, launched new restaurants, and created menus that have received critical acclaim.
During his tenure at Moghul Express in Leicester, United Kingdom, Qureshi guided the restaurant to a five-star TripAdvisor rating. Under his leadership, it became the top-ranked Indian restaurant in the region and placed among the top 10 restaurants overall.
Among his signature dishes are the Barra Kebab and Mutton Dum Biryani, recipes developed under the guidance of his great-grandfather. These items will now feature at Hyatt Regency Chennai, offering guests traditional Indian flavors with a fine-dining experience.
In his new role, Qureshi will oversee Indian kitchen operations at the hotel, develop regionally inspired menus, and train culinary staff in traditional methods adapted for modern tastes. His focus on quality, hygiene, and storytelling through cuisine is expected to enhance the hotel’s Indian dining offerings.
