Sixth property strengthens Himachal Pradesh footprint
The upcoming hotel marks Onora Hospitality’s sixth property in Himachal Pradesh, a key leisure destination for domestic travellers.
The group currently operates jüSTa Resorts & Hotels in Mashobra, Dharamshala, Manali and Palampur, along with a Bookmark Resorts property in Manali.
The new Shimla retreat is scheduled to open in mid-March, further strengthening the brand’s presence in the region’s leisure hospitality segment.
Ashish Vohra, Founder & CEO, Onora Hospitality, said:
“With this signing, jüSTa Hotels & Resorts further strengthens its footprint in high-potential leisure destinations across North India, with a focus on character-rich properties that deliver authentic and memorable guest experiences.”
Property located in the forested Jakhu Hills
The retreat will be developed in the Jakhu Hills area of Shimla, known for its dense forest trails and elevated views of the surrounding landscape.
The location offers guests a nature-focused environment away from the commercial activity of the city, while remaining within reach of Shimla’s key attractions.
Architecture draws inspiration from colonial-era design
The hotel’s design will reflect Shimla’s colonial architectural heritage. The structure will be constructed using deodar wood, a material traditionally associated with hill architecture in the region.
The interiors will feature extensive woodwork interpreted through a contemporary design approach, combining heritage design elements with modern hospitality standards.
Guest accommodation will be offered in three room categories, differentiated by layout and spatial configuration. Each room will provide views of the surrounding forest landscape.

Wellness and recreation facilities planned
Positioned as a premium boutique retreat, the property will include several wellness and leisure facilities.
The planned amenities include a full-service spa, yoga space and indoor recreation areas, along with guided nature walks through the surrounding forest trails.
The hotel will also feature an English-style café overlooking the forest, designed to offer a quieter alternative to the busy Mall Road area.
Focus on boutique leisure destinations
The signing reflects Onora Hospitality’s strategy of expanding in character-driven leisure destinations, particularly in hill and nature locations that attract experiential travellers.
With the addition of the Shimla heritage retreat, the company continues to grow its presence across North India’s boutique hospitality segment.
