Preferred Hotels & Resorts has added The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary to its Legend Collection, expanding its luxury hotel portfolio in India and strengthening its longstanding partnership with The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts.
Located within 76 acres of forest and coffee plantations in Karnataka’s Western Ghats, the 71-villa retreat opened under The Leela brand in July 2026 following its acquisition earlier in the year. The property combines luxury accommodation with nature-based experiences, Kodava heritage, regional cuisine and wellness facilities.
The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary Features 71 Luxury Villas
Situated within one of Coorg’s oldest coffee estates, The Leela Coorg has been developed using materials including laterite stone, bamboo and other locally sourced elements that reflect its forest setting.
Its accommodation comprises Riverstone Family Villas, Mistwood Villas, Forestlight Luxury Villas and the four-bedroom Sunbeam Presidential Villa.
Other experiences include guided nature trails, lakeside yoga sessions and dining in an island setting.
Preferred Hotels & Resorts Strengthens Partnership with The Leela
The addition forms part of an 18-year partnership between Preferred Hotels & Resorts and The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts.
With The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary joining the portfolio, Preferred Hotels & Resorts now represents 12 Leela properties in India, divided equally between its Legend and L.V.X. collections.
The Legend Collection includes properties such as The Leela Palace Jaipur, The Leela Palace New Delhi and The Leela Palace Udaipur. The L.V.X. portfolio includes The Leela Mumbai and The Leela Gandhinagar.
Saurabh Rai, Executive Vice President, South Asia, Middle East and Africa, Preferred Hotels & Resorts, said:
“We are proud to welcome The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary into our Legend Collection, a property that captures the spirit of Coorg’s forests and coffee estates in every detail.”
Rai also highlighted the addition as a continuation of the company’s longstanding relationship with The Leela.
The Leela Focuses on Nature-Led Luxury Hospitality
Anuraag Bhatnagar, Whole-time Director and Chief Executive Officer, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, said the property reflects the brand’s approach to creating hospitality experiences connected to their destinations.
“At The Leela, we believe that the truest expression of luxury lies in creating experiences that evoke a unique sense of place.”
The resort joins the collection as The Leela marks four decades in the luxury hospitality industry.
