Formerly Taj GVK Hotels & Resorts Limited, the company has adopted its new identity following a change in ownership, while its six operating hotels will continue under the Taj brand through management agreements with IHCL.
HYDERABAD, 2 November 2026: Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Limited, formerly known as Taj GVK Hotels & Resorts Limited, has announced that its new corporate name has come into effect following the issuance of a fresh Certificate of Incorporation by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on 30 October 2026.
The name change follows a shift in the company’s ownership structure. In December 2025, The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) sold its entire 25.52% stake in the company to the GVK-Bhupal promoter family. IHCL’s nominee directors subsequently stepped down from the Board on 30 December 2025.
Established in 1995 as a joint venture between the GVK-Bhupal family and IHCL, the company is now entirely owned and led by the promoter family. The new identity, Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Limited, reflects the revised ownership structure and its focus on the luxury hospitality segment.
Hotels to Continue Operating Under the Taj Brand
Despite the corporate name change, the company’s hotels will continue to operate under the Taj brand. IHCL will manage all properties in the portfolio through long-term hotel management agreements, with no changes to the brand, service or operating standards experienced by guests, employees and partners.
The two groups have maintained a partnership for more than 25 years, during which they have developed and operated several hotels across India. The company has indicated that this relationship will continue through the existing management agreements.
Krishna GVK currently owns six operating hotels across Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh and Mumbai. Its portfolio comprises Taj Krishna, Taj Deccan and Vivanta Begumpet in Hyderabad; Taj Club House in Chennai; Taj Chandigarh; and Taj Santacruz in Mumbai. The Mumbai property is held through its subsidiary, Greenwoods Palaces & Resorts Private Limited.
Bengaluru to Mark the Next Phase of Expansion
The company’s next phase of growth will begin in Bengaluru with the opening of Taj Yelahanka. The property will become the first hotel to open under the Krishna GVK corporate identity, taking the company’s portfolio to seven hotels.
Following the existing ownership and management structure, Taj Yelahanka will be owned by Krishna GVK and operated by IHCL under the Taj brand. Further details are expected to be shared at the hotel’s launch.
Krishna Bhupal Outlines Growth Plans
Commenting on the corporate name change, Mr. Krishna Bhupal, Joint Managing Director, said,
“Our new name, Krishna GVK, marks the start of a new chapter for the Company. Our hotels remain Taj. For over 25 years, our family and IHCL have built some of India’s finest hotels together, and we will continue this partnership through our management agreements. Krishna GVK is built to grow, with a clear focus on expanding our portfolio into India’s high-potential hotel markets. Taj Yelahanka, a 256-key luxury hotel, will be the first to open under our new name towards the end of November, taking us into Bengaluru, one of India’s most dynamic hotel markets. Even after completing this landmark property, our net debt remains minimal, and our strong balance sheet puts us in a great position to pursue growth through both organic and inorganic routes.”
The opening of the 256-key Taj Yelahanka towards the end of November 2026 will mark Krishna GVK’s entry into Bengaluru. The company has also indicated that its financial position, including minimal net debt following the completion of the project, will support its future expansion plans through organic and inorganic growth.
