The airline’s mobile app was recognised at the Lisbon event for integrating booking, check-in, flight updates, baggage tracking and personalised travel guidance into a single digital experience.
MONTRÉAL, 22 October 2026: Air Canada’s mobile app has been named Best Airline App at the 2026 World Aviation Festival in Lisbon, winning the Battle of the Airline Apps. A panel of industry judges compared three airline finalists and rated Air Canada’s app highest, highlighting its ability to bring the entire travel journey into a single experience.
The judges recognised the app’s personalised, contextual information, which helps customers navigate their journey from booking to arrival.
Air Canada Focuses on Personalised Digital Travel
Carlos Faxas, Vice President, Digital Products, Air Canada, said,
“Travel has always rewarded the people who know the system. We want every customer to travel like an expert, whether it’s their first flight or their hundredth. That means an app that anticipates what you need next, like directions to your connecting gate the moment you land and brings you closer to the people behind your trip, like the Air Canada team member who loaded your bag. Our ambition is to build the best airline app in the world. This recognition validates our progress in that journey, and we continue to be guided by feedback from our customers and coworkers alike.”
New Features Improve Booking and Airport Navigation
In 2026, Air Canada introduced several enhancements to its mobile app. A redesigned home screen adapts to each stage of the trip, displaying check-in, boarding passes, flight status and baggage tracking when customers need them.
Passengers connecting through Air Canada’s hubs in Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver can access directions to their next departure gate, helping them navigate airport connections.
The airline has also introduced a low-fare calendar and side-by-side fare comparisons, allowing customers to review fare rules and baggage allowances before booking.
Another addition is the Bravo button, which allows customers to thank an Air Canada team member who has made a positive difference to their journey. The feature builds on Bag Buddy, which identifies the team member who loaded a customer’s baggage.
Digital Investments Support Customer Experience
Air Canada continues to invest in digital products intended to make travel more intuitive, personalised and reliable for millions of customers.
With more than 23 million downloads, the app builds on the airline’s previous recognition for its digital experiences. The Air Canada app received Webby Honoree recognition in 2022, while aircanada.com received the same recognition in 2025.
The award-winning Air Canada app is available to download free of charge.
