Hyatt Regency Chennai has promoted Backiaraj S to the position of Senior Information Systems Manager, the hotel confirmed. He joined the property in October 2022 as Information Systems Manager and has since played a pivotal role in sustaining its IT operations.
Backiaraj brings nearly 19 years of IT experience in the hospitality sector, having worked with brands including Feathers – A Radha Hotel, InterContinental Chennai, Ramada Egmore and Le Royal Meridien. He contributed to pre-opening IT teams and managed enterprise-wide systems across multiple properties.
Since joining Hyatt Regency Chennai, Backiaraj has overseen administration of systems and infrastructure, including Windows Server environments from 2003 through 2019, LAN/WAN maintenance and network reliability for guest-facing and back-end platforms. He is also credited with managing deployment and support of technologies such as Micros POS, Opera PMS, VingCard access control, AVAYA IP telephony and advanced CCTV systems.

His certifications include Microsoft System Administrator qualifications and credentials from CMS Computer Institute, underpinning his technical credentials and commitment to industry standards.
In his expanded role, Backiaraj will lead IT strategy and drive property-level innovation at the hotel. He will mentor IT staff within the Hyatt network and play a crucial role in shaping technology initiatives across guest services and operations.

Hyatt Regency Chennai is an 18‑storey luxury hotel featuring 327 rooms, including 21 suites. Its facilities include multiple dining venues, a spa, convention space, an outdoor pool, and an atrium lobby garden. The hotel originally opened in 2011 and is located on Anna Salai in Chennai’s Teynampet district.
