The move brings 18 brands, loyalty programmes and digital platforms under one identity, while India’s portfolio currently includes 34 hotels and 26 properties in the development pipeline.
BWH Hotels, the US-headquartered hospitality group behind Best Western, is consolidating its portfolio of more than 4,000 hotels across 100 countries under WorldHotels as its new global masterbrand. The move is aimed at strengthening brand visibility, simplifying guest access and expanding the international reach of its independently owned properties.
The transformation brings together 18 brands, loyalty programmes and digital platforms under a unified identity, while allowing individual hotels to retain their existing names and brand identities. According to the group, the decision follows consumer research indicating that travellers were familiar with only part of its portfolio, which spans luxury, boutique, upscale, extended-stay and economy accommodation.
The strategy marks a broader repositioning of BWH Hotels beyond its traditional Best Western identity, as hospitality groups increasingly focus on leveraging global distribution networks and loyalty programmes to reach travellers across market segments.
“We have a hotel for practically every type of trip, but many travellers know only part of our portfolio,”
said Larry Cuculic, President and CEO of WorldHotels. He said the new structure would help travellers better understand the group’s offerings while enabling hotel owners to compete internationally without losing their independence and authenticity.
India Expansion Gains Momentum
The global consolidation comes as WorldHotels expands its presence in India, where it currently operates 34 hotels and has another 26 properties in its development pipeline.
For the Indian business, the unified brand identity is expected to improve the visibility of its hotels among international travellers and strengthen their access to the group’s distribution network.
Commenting on the strategic significance of the transformation for India, Ranjan Bhattacharya, Chairman, WorldHotels India and South Asia, said,
“Great brands are built on trust, strengthened by their legacy and sustained by their ability to evolve. The transition to WorldHotels marks an important step in that journey, allowing us to build on Best Western’s established foundation while creating greater opportunities for our hotel partners and guests. As India’s hospitality sector enters an exciting phase of growth, WorldHotels reflects our confidence in the country’s potential and our commitment to bringing global standards, wider international reach and distinctive hospitality experiences to the market, while preserving the individuality and local character that make Indian hospitality unique.”
“With WorldHotels, we want to give our hotel partners access to a larger international customer base and stronger distribution channels, while also making it easier for Indian travellers to discover and book our properties, both within the country and overseas,” said Atul Jain, Chief Operating Officer, WorldHotels India and South Asia.
WorldHotels Rewards to Unite 70 Million Members
A key component of the transformation is the launch of WorldHotels Rewards on January 5, 2027. The programme will combine Best Western Rewards and the existing WorldHotels Rewards programme into a single system covering approximately 70 million members worldwide.
The consolidated programme will have three membership tiers, with existing benefits such as special member rates, status-matching privileges and non-expiring points retained. Members will also be able to earn rewards across the wider hotel portfolio.
Further details about the programme are scheduled to be announced on November 16, 2026.
In India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Best Western Rewards currently accounts for approximately 27% of stay revenue, highlighting the role of loyalty-led bookings in the regional business.
