The 16-key boutique retreat features private heated plunge pools, a wellness sanctuary and curated Himalayan experiences, with a focus on thoughtful design and slow living.
New Delhi, 29 October 2026: Van Rāsa, a new forest-borne retreat in Kasauli, has opened its doors, offering an intimate hospitality experience in the Himalayas. Set amid lush forests with expansive views of the snow-clad Dhauladhar range, the 16-key boutique resort takes its name from the essence (Rāsa) of the forest (Van) surrounding it.
Located approximately one and a half hours from Chandigarh Airport, the retreat is designed for quieter escapes, bringing together distinctive architecture, personalised hospitality, wellness experiences and privacy.
The development supports the hospitality sector’s growth across markets, contributing to ongoing recent hotel launches.Architecture Inspired by European Design Influences
Van Rāsa’s architecture and interiors draw from Scandinavian, English Classic and European Neoclassical influences, with each room category offering a distinct interpretation of mountain living.
Amaltash features Scandinavian-inspired A-frame rooms with skylights, while Buransh brings English Classic elements through balconies and terraces. Palash reflects a Neoclassical aesthetic with private terraces, and Farash offers warm, classic interiors. Seven of the retreat’s rooms feature private heated plunge pools.
Commenting on the opening, Vaibhv Varadhan, Managing Director, Van Rāsa, said:
“Kasauli has a certain quiet magic to it, and building Van Rāsa here felt as much about restraint as ambition. We didn’t want another hotel competing for attention, we wanted a place guests could disappear into, where the mountains do the talking. That’s the experience we’ve spent years designing toward, and today, it’s real. We look forward to offering travellers a more considered way to experience Kasauli and the Himalayas.”
Dining and Wellness Experiences
At the heart of the retreat is Syāhi, a mountain-facing restaurant and bar featuring 30-foot glass walls, a glass roof and French-inspired interiors. Its menu includes Indian and international cuisine, in-house bakes and wood-fired pizzas.
The wellness offering is centred around Neer, a Moroccan-inspired sanctuary featuring an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, ice bath, steam room, sauna and skylit massage rooms. A dedicated Yoga Deck and The Den, which houses a gym and recreational facilities, complete the wellness and leisure facilities.
Sangeeta Aggarwal Gupta, Managing Director, Van Rāsa, said:
“Van Rāsa isn’t built to keep guests moving; it’s built to slow them down. A lingering breakfast on the terrace, an afternoon lost to the view, an evening by the fire, the hotel is designed around the instinct to simply be still. Design, for me, has always been about restraint: knowing when to let a view or a material speak for itself. That instinct shaped every corner of Van Rāsa, from the light in the rooms to the materials we chose to age gracefully with the mountains. Van Rāsa is as much a design philosophy as it is a hotel, and I’m proud to see it realised.”
Curated Experiences Around Kasauli
Beyond the property, guests can explore Kasauli through nature walks offering panoramic views of Chandigarh and Shimla, English picnics in the hills and locally hosted Himachali Dham experiences.
Evenings at the retreat include terrace bonfires and fireplaces, adding to the experience of spending time in the mountains.
With its emphasis on thoughtful design, nature and slow living, Van Rāsa introduces a contemporary approach to the Kasauli getaway, combining boutique accommodation with dining, wellness and curated local experiences.
