The Residency Hotels has announced the opening of The Residency Signature Madurai, a landmark hospitality development that brings contemporary luxury to one of South India’s most culturally significant cities. Spread across seven acres and encompassing nearly five lakh square feet, the property combines luxury accommodation, destination dining, and large-scale event infrastructure, positioning itself as one of Tamil Nadu’s most ambitious hospitality projects.
Designed as both a luxury retreat and a premier venue for celebrations, conventions, weddings, and business events, the hotel seeks to blend Madurai’s rich cultural heritage with modern hospitality experiences.
The launch marks another milestone for the hospitality sector, contributing to the steady growth trajectory currently shaping recent hotel launches across the country. The Residency Signature Madurai Draws Inspiration from the City’s Architectural Heritage
The property has been designed by Singapore-based architect Wong Chiu Man of WoW (Warner Wong Architects), who has reinterpreted Madurai’s iconic temple architecture through a contemporary design approach.
The hotel’s façade is distinguished by vibrant tri-coloured bougainvillea blooms, creating a striking visual identity. Nearly 300 intricately designed pillars throughout the property draw inspiration from the famed Thousand Pillar Mandapam, reflecting the architectural grandeur that has long defined Madurai’s cultural landscape.
Positioned within the city, the hotel offers panoramic views of all four gopurams of the Meenakshi Amman Temple as well as the historic Thiruparankundram Hills, providing guests with a distinctive connection to the destination.
The development comprises two separate structures, a luxury hotel block and an expansive convention centre, together creating a destination that caters to both leisure and event-driven travel.
The Residency Signature Madurai Features 191 Rooms and Suites
The hotel offers 186 guestrooms and suites, complemented by five additional rooms within the convention centre, taking the property’s total inventory to 191 keys.
Designed with contemporary interiors and modern technology, the accommodations have been developed to meet the expectations of both business and leisure travellers while reflecting the cultural character of the destination.
The launch significantly expands the luxury hospitality offering in Madurai and strengthens the city’s ability to attract premium domestic and international travellers.
The Residency Signature Madurai Introduces Multiple Dining Concepts
Dining forms a key component of the hotel’s guest experience, with several distinct concepts designed to cater to different culinary preferences.
The all-day dining restaurant Chithirai, named after Madurai’s most celebrated month, presents a menu inspired by togetherness, tradition, and local flavours.
Eden, the hotel’s premium bar, offers a contemporary beverage programme centred around its “From Garden to Glass” philosophy, combining innovative cocktails with curated food offerings and evening experiences.
The property also features Chin Chin, its signature Oriental restaurant, a brand that has established strong recognition among diners in Chennai and Coimbatore.
Completing the culinary portfolio is Krave, an artisanal pâtisserie serving freshly baked breads, handcrafted pastries, desserts, and celebration cakes.
The hotel has also announced plans to introduce The Grand Trunk, an Indian specialty restaurant that is expected to open in the coming months.
The Residency Signature Madurai Strengthens the City’s Events and Wedding Infrastructure
At the heart of the project is one of the largest hospitality-led convention and celebration facilities in South India.
The dedicated convention centre and terrace can accommodate up to 5,000 guests, making it among the largest event venues attached to a hotel in Tamil Nadu.
The centrepiece venue, Ballroom 1 and Ballroom 2, spans approximately 18,000 square feet, complemented by a 4,000-square-foot pre-function area. The venue also includes an exclusive 3,800-square-foot dining area featuring seven live cooking stations and two island counters designed for customised event catering.
Ballroom 3 and Ballroom 4 offer an additional 10,000 square feet of event space, supported by a 7,000-square-foot pre-function area.
The property’s Mandapam Terrace introduces an open-air wedding venue accompanied by a 28,000-square-foot function area capable of hosting more than 2,000 guests. An adjoining lounge connected through dedicated elevator access further enhances the event experience.
Additional event facilities include the Town Hall, a 3,500-square-foot venue featuring 15-foot-high ceilings and direct access to a landscaped lawn known as Green Velvet, along with The Gallery, which spans approximately 2,700 square feet.
