Souvagya Mohapatra, Managing Director – India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at Atmosphere Core, has been appointed Chair of the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee under the National Tourism Committee for a one-year term.
In his new role, Mohapatra will work with industry leaders, government bodies, and community stakeholders to support tourism development across Eastern India.
Over Three Decades of Hospitality Experience
Mohapatra brings more than 30 years of experience in the hospitality and tourism industry.
As Managing Director – India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at Atmosphere Core, he leads the company’s expansion strategy across South Asia while contributing to its broader growth across the Asia-Pacific region. The hospitality group currently operates resorts across the Maldives, India, and the Indian Ocean region, with continued expansion planned in India.
Throughout his career, Mohapatra has built expertise in hotel operations, business expansion, destination development, and strategic growth. At Atmosphere Core, he has also supported initiatives aligned with the company’s “Joy of Giving” philosophy, focusing on service excellence, guest experience, and sustainable value creation.
Driving Tourism Development in Eastern India
As Chair of the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee, Mohapatra will focus on promoting tourism growth through collaboration between industry and government.
His priorities include supporting policy recommendations, attracting investments, encouraging capacity-building initiatives, improving tourism infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and strengthening service standards across Eastern India.
His appointment comes at a time when India’s tourism sector continues to witness growth, driven by infrastructure development, increasing domestic travel, and rising international visitor interest.
