Shipra Shetty’s Bastian Hospitality Group has launched its first hotel, Bastian Riviera, a 1.5-acre lifestyle destination along the Morjim backwaters in Goa. The opening marks the group’s move beyond restaurants into a wider hospitality space designed for modern travellers seeking distinct, experience-led stays.
International Design Influence
Bastian Riviera aims to offer a new kind of Goan escape shaped by global aesthetics rather than traditional beachside themes. The property features a pyramid-inspired structure surrounded by cabanas set on private decks, water courtyards, circular sunbeds and an outdoor bar overlooking the backwaters. Elements drawn from places such as Egypt, Mykonos and Dubai appear throughout the design, creating a layered setting shaped to feel transportive and immersive.

Evolving the Bastian Culinary Experience
The food programme builds on Bastian’s reputation while placing stronger focus on premium seafood and Goan flavours. Along with this, the destination will host cultural and nightlife programming, with international artists including Jimmy Jules and Bedouin scheduled to perform through December. These events signal the group’s intention to strengthen its position within Goa’s entertainment landscape.

Leadership Perspective
Commenting on the launch, Ranjit Bindra, Founder and CEO of Bastian Hospitality, said,
“Goa has long been close to my heart, with many of my childhood memories and holidays rooted here. I haven’t spent more time anywhere else in India, which is why it felt natural to bring my best work to this coastline, shaped by everything I’ve learnt through my travels. With Riviera, we wanted to honour the spirit of Goa while introducing a bold new design identity for Bastian. It is a meaningful milestone as it marks our first hotel, crafted with the care and intention that define all our spaces.”
He added, “My aim is to contribute to India’s tourism landscape while creating a destination that reflects both my personal connection to Goa and our broader vision for the future. As we move into our second phase with a dedicated wellness offering and full spa experience, Riviera becomes the starting point of a larger vision for leisure-led destinations under Bastian Hospitality Group.”

Visual Identity and Future Plans
Along with the launch, the brand released a film titled À Beira da Riviera, meaning “by the river” in Portuguese, setting the visual and creative tone for the property. Rather than simply showcasing the location, the film captures the hotel’s light, movement and atmosphere, reflecting a lifestyle-driven identity aimed at travellers who engage deeply with the spaces they visit.
With phase one of accommodation now open and a spa scheduled for the next development stage, Bastian Riviera represents the group’s largest investment in Goa. The opening underscores the company’s plan to grow within India’s leisure and lifestyle space, with the property serving as a foundation for future experience-focused destinations.
