The agreement was exchanged during the Vietnam-Denmark Business Forum in Copenhagen, in the presence of To Lam, General Secretary and President of Vietnam, King Frederik X of Denmark and senior dignitaries from both countries.
The partnership aims to combine Satair’s global aviation supply and services capabilities with Vietjet’s growing requirements as it expands its fleet, international network and technical infrastructure. The collaboration is also intended to strengthen Vietnam’s aviation supply chain capabilities.
Strategic Partnership Builds on Existing Material Services
The MOU builds on the existing Integrated Material Services (IMS) programme supporting Vietjet’s growing Airbus fleet. The agreement establishes a framework for the companies to explore expanded material solutions, digital optimisation and measures to improve operational resilience.
Under the agreement, both organisations intend to establish a Joint Working Group to evaluate and implement cooperation across six key areas covering material management, infrastructure development, aircraft lifecycle solutions, digital integration, operational support and professional training.
Expanding Integrated Material Services for Fleet Growth
The companies will explore ways to optimise Vietjet’s existing IMS programme, including material availability, procurement, planning and inventory positioning. These measures are intended to align supply chain operations with the airline’s fleet expansion and growing international network.
The collaboration will also examine material support and consignment capabilities linked to the development of Long Thanh International Airport. The proposed initiatives aim to support aviation logistics requirements as Vietjet develops its operational facilities around the strategic infrastructure project.
Aircraft Lifecycle Solutions and Supply Chain Sustainability
Satair and Vietjet will explore aircraft lifecycle solutions, including Used Serviceable Material (USM), component repair and exchange services, and surplus inventory management.
These initiatives are intended to improve aircraft component lifecycle economics while supporting more sustainable supply chain practices. By examining opportunities to extend component usability and manage surplus inventory more efficiently, the companies aim to strengthen resource utilisation across aviation operations.
Digital Integration and Predictive Planning
Data analytics and digital integration will form another focus area of the partnership. The companies plan to explore advanced analytics, joint data integration and predictive demand planning to improve material visibility and optimise fleet maintenance workflows.
The initiatives are expected to support better planning and coordination across maintenance and supply chain activities, helping Vietjet manage its growing operational requirements.
Strengthening Operational Support and Training
The MOU also covers enhanced operational support, including Aircraft-On-Ground (AOG) response mechanisms, regional stock positioning and emergency logistics coordination. These measures aim to improve the availability of critical materials and support operational reliability.
Capability building and training will be another priority. The companies intend to exchange industry expertise, technical knowledge and professional development initiatives to strengthen aviation supply chain management capabilities in Vietnam and support the development of local technical talent.
Satair and Vietjet Highlight Long-Term Growth Ambitions
Richard Stoddart, Chief Executive Officer of Satair, said,
“This Memorandum of Understanding marks a significant milestone in our evolving partnership with Vietjet. By building upon our established Integrated Material Services foundation, we look forward to supporting Vietjet’s fleet growth and working collaboratively to develop scalable, sustainable, and data-driven supply chain solutions that strengthen Vietjet’s long-term growth ambitions.”
Nguyen Thanh Son, Chief Executive Officer of Vietjet, said,
“A proactive and efficient supply chain is fundamental to Vietjet’s fleet development, international network expansion, and continued enhancement of passenger services. Our partnership with Satair enables us to leverage Airbus’ global expertise and supply chain capabilities to enhance operational and maintenance efficiency, while preparing for the development of strategic infrastructure, including Long Thanh International Airport. We also look forward to strengthening local technical expertise and developing aviation talent in Vietnam, contributing to a more sustainable future for the industry.”
The agreement deepens the strategic relationship between Satair and Vietjet, creating a framework for further cooperation in aviation technology, material services, operational support and talent development. It also strengthens business collaboration between Vietnam and Denmark as Vietnam continues to develop its aviation infrastructure and supply chain capabilities.
