Lifestyle hospitality brand Minimalist Hotels will open its first boutique property in Udaipur in November 2025. The design led retreat, set beside Lake Pichola, marks the brand’s expansion into Rajasthan and extends its national footprint as part of a broader growth strategy.
The new Udaipur location, featuring just 20 rooms, follows Minimalist Hotels’ signature Japandi-inspired design aesthetic—combining Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian functionality. Interiors embrace simplicity, clean lines and curated local elements to reflect Udaipur’s artistic heritage.
A rooftop bar overlooking the lake is a standout feature. The evening venue is intended as a modern elevated social space offering scenic views and handcrafted cocktails that blend regional and global flavors. Minimalist positions the bar as “a sleek, contemporary escape above the city’s bustling charm.”
Gautam Munjal, founder of Minimalist Hotels, said the Udaipur project reflects the brand’s vision:
“Udaipur is a canvas of history, art, and soul—and we wanted to craft a property that speaks to all three through the lens of minimalism. This hotel is a reflection of where we see travel headed: towards meaning, design, and locality. With the rooftop bar, we’re creating not just a place to unwind, but a space where evenings become unforgettable. Our goal is to offer an elevated experience in every sense—visually, emotionally, and culturally.”
The hotel is Minimalist’s seventh property overall. It is located in Udaipur’s cultural heart and promises immersive local programming in collaboration with community partners. Planned offerings include curated local tours, design-driven experiences and cultural events to engage both guests and city residents.
This opening aligns with the brand’s broader expansion across culturally rich and experiential destinations. Minimalist recently announced plans to open 20 new properties over two years in India including in Udaipur, Varanasi, Delhi NCR, Goa, and Uttarakhand, adding approximately 700,000 sq. ft. of lifestyle-focused built-up space.

Minimalist Hotels currently operates over 200,000 sq. ft. of hospitality space and has hosted more than 150,000 guests reported in recent years. Its mission centers on “less but better,” blending intentional design with local cultural context, and showcasing community driven, slower travel stays.
The arrival of Minimalist Hotels in Udaipur comes as the city—known as the ‘City of Lakes’ and celebrated for its palaces, artists, and cultural heritage—continues to draw domestic and international travellers seeking thoughtfully curated—and locally rooted—lodging options.
This launch underlines Minimalist’s ambition to redefine mid-market hospitality with a brand offering that marries minimalist aesthetics, sustainable operations and local engagement across India’s most storied destinations.
