IndiGo has appointed Gaurav Hazrati as Business Head – Loyalty, Marketplaces and Financial Services, placing him at the helm of the airline’s loyalty programme, travel marketplace and financial services businesses.
Hazrati brings experience across loyalty, payments and financial services. In his new role, he will oversee IndiGo BluChip, the airline’s travel marketplace and its financial services businesses as IndiGo continues to expand its customer proposition beyond air travel.
Leading IndiGo’s Loyalty and Financial Services Businesses
Hazrati’s mandate covers three business areas within IndiGo’s broader customer ecosystem: IndiGo BluChip, the travel marketplace and financial services.
His responsibilities will include the continued development of IndiGo BluChip alongside the airline’s wider loyalty, marketplace and financial services activities. The role brings together his previous experience in payments, credit, lending, insurance, investments and loyalty programmes.
Experience at Tata Digital and Tata Payments
Before joining IndiGo, Hazrati served as CEO and Director of Tata Payments and previously held the position of President – Financial Services at Tata Digital. He was also a Non-Executive Director on the board of Tata Fintech.
At Tata Digital, Hazrati was part of the founding leadership team and worked on the launch and development of the company’s loyalty and financial services businesses. His responsibilities covered payments, credit cards, lending, insurance and investment products.
The experience provided exposure to building and scaling financial services propositions within a digital consumer ecosystem.
Earlier Career in Financial Services
Earlier in his career, Hazrati was part of the founding team at Axis Direct, the broking business of Axis Bank. He subsequently held senior leadership positions at IndusInd Bank.
His responsibilities at IndusInd Bank included digital banking, payments, investments and lending, adding experience across multiple financial services categories to his professional background.
His career has therefore spanned financial services, digital banking, payments and loyalty, with experience in developing businesses and consumer-facing financial products.
Focus on IndiGo BluChip
At IndiGo, Hazrati will oversee the continued development of IndiGo BluChip, alongside the airline’s marketplace and financial services businesses.
Willie Walsh, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said:
“As IndiGo continues its transformation journey, creating greater value and deeper engagement for customers across and beyond travel will become increasingly important. With extensive experience of developing and scaling loyalty and financial services businesses, I am confident that Gaurav is well-equipped to drive these critical functions at IndiGo and his expertise will play a valuable role as IndiGo evolves as a global airline of scale in the coming years.”
Building a Broader Customer Platform
Commenting on his appointment, Gaurav Hazrati said:
“IndiGo connects India like no other airline and has become the trusted choice of an aspirational India that is flying more, spending more and expecting more. My mandate is to extend that trust into a consumer platform where we bring loyalty, marketplace and financial services together for the customer. IndiGo BluChip will reward people not just for how they fly, but for their everyday choices. I am glad we are already gaining altitude.”
Hazrati’s appointment brings experience in loyalty and financial services to IndiGo as the airline develops businesses that extend beyond its core aviation operations.
