Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of Ginger Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, marking another step in the company’s expansion of its lean luxe brand across emerging leisure destinations. The project is a conversion of a standalone hotel and will be expanded to 50 keys.

The signing strengthens Ginger’s presence in Maharashtra while supporting IHCL’s strategy of entering high-growth tourism markets.

This signing reflects IHCL’s strategic push into new markets, contributing to latest hotel signings.

Conversion Project to Offer 50 Keys

The upcoming 50-key Ginger Sindhudurg will feature an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, swimming pool, fully equipped gym, meeting rooms, and a banquet hall.

The hotel is designed to cater to both leisure and business travellers, offering facilities for corporate meetings, conferences, and social events.

Strengthening Presence in an Emerging Leisure Destination

Located along Maharashtra’s Konkan coastline, Sindhudurg has emerged as a growing leisure destination, supported by improving connectivity and increasing tourist arrivals.

The region is known for attractions including Sindhudurg Fort, Sawantwadi Palace, Moti Talav Lake, and the beaches of Tarkarli, drawing travellers from key feeder markets such as Mumbai, Pune, and Goa.

    Leadership on the Signing

Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said:

“Sindhudurg is emerging as a sought-after leisure destination on Maharashtra’s Konkan coast, driven by improving connectivity, growing visitor footfall and increasing demand for short stay travel. Its accessibility from key feeder markets like Mumbai, Pune and Goa, along with its scenic coastline, positions the destination for sustained tourism growth. This signing reflects our strategy of expanding the brand’s presence in high-potential destinations and we are happy to partner with Ms. Sawant for this project.”

    Priyanka Sawant added:

“We are delighted to partner with IHCL to bring the Ginger brand to Sindhudurg. We look forward to working with IHCL and contribute to the destination’s growing tourism appeal.”

    Expanding Maharashtra Portfolio

With the addition of Ginger Sindhudurg, IHCL will have 66 hotels in Maharashtra, including 34 hotels under development, further strengthening its presence across one of India’s largest hospitality markets.

The signing aligns with IHCL’s continued strategy of expanding its portfolio across leisure, business, and emerging travel destinations through its diverse brand portfolio.
