JW Marriott Goa has appointed Himanshu Taneja as its new general manager, the company confirmed. Taneja brings over 25 years of experience operating luxury properties with top hotel brands.
Taneja graduated from the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in Trivandrum. He began his career with Leela Mumbai and later worked across Taj Hotels and The Oberoi Group before joining Marriott International in 2010 as executive chef at JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu.
In 2017, he moved to The St. Regis Mumbai as culinary director. One year later, he was promoted to director of culinary for South Asia and helped shape Marriott’s food and beverage strategy in the region.
Taneja transitioned to a broader operational role in 2023 when he assumed the position of senior director of operations for South and East India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. He oversaw a portfolio of 48 hotels across the region, earning praise for introducing innovation alongside operational discipline.
At JW Marriott Goa, he will oversee the resort’s leadership team with responsibilities that include improving employee engagement, increasing guest satisfaction scores, strengthening stakeholder relationships and growing revenue while expanding market share.
Taneja is known for his strategic thinking, energy and attention to detail. Industry leaders note that his ability to balance long term growth planning with operational execution has earned him respect across the hospitality sector.
Taneja enjoys photography and travel with his wife, Sruti, and son, Pratyansh (Ansh).
JW Marriott Goa launched in April 2023 with a coastal resort design featuring multiple dining venues and wellness amenities tailored to mindful luxury in North Goa’s Vagator area.
Taneja’s appointment comes at a critical time as the resort completes its initial growth phase and ramps up operations in its third year. Observers say his combined legacy in culinary arts and operations positions him well to elevate the property’s positioning and guest engagement in a competitive luxury market.
His mandate includes refining service delivery, driving creative guest programming, and establishing JW Marriott Goa as a preferred destination in the region. With his leadership, the resort aims to deepen its market presence while delivering consistent luxury experiences.
Under Taneja’s guidance, JW Marriott Goa will focus on operational excellence, culinary innovation and personalized service designed to build lasting guest loyalty and reinforce its status within Marriott’s luxury portfolio.
