Evan Neumann Takes Charge at Auro

Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley has appointed Evan Neumann as Executive Chef of Auro, the resort’s Michelin-starred restaurant. The appointment strengthens the culinary leadership at the property as it continues to position Auro as a leading fine dining destination within Napa Valley and the broader Four Seasons portfolio.

The move reflects the resort’s focus on maintaining culinary consistency, refining its gastronomic identity, and building a strong kitchen team capable of delivering high-level dining experiences rooted in technique, seasonality, and local sourcing.

This leadership addition aligns with the hospitality sector’s growth ambitions, reflecting leadership appointments in hospitality.

Leading Culinary Direction and Kitchen Operations

In his new role, Evan Neumann will lead all culinary operations at Auro, including menu development, kitchen management, and team coordination. His responsibilities extend to overseeing day-to-day kitchen functions, ensuring consistency in preparation and presentation, and maintaining the standards expected of a Michelin-starred restaurant.

He will work closely with the existing culinary leadership team, including Sous Chefs Lika Nevarez and Luis Patino, to ensure operational alignment and continued excellence in service delivery. His role is also expected to focus on refining the restaurant’s culinary direction while maintaining its existing reputation.

International Culinary Experience Across Top Kitchens

Evan Neumann brings extensive international experience, having worked alongside globally recognised chefs such as Joël Robuchon, Alain Ducasse, Anne-Sophie Pic, and Christophe Bellanca. His career spans leading restaurants across Europe and the United States, providing him with a strong foundation in classical techniques and modern culinary execution.

His previous roles include positions at Hotel Metropole Monte Carlo, Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athenee, and Restaurant Daniel, where he gained experience in high-performance kitchen environments. This exposure has shaped his approach to precision, discipline, and ingredient-focused cooking.

    Recent Roles and Culinary Progression

Prior to joining Four Seasons Napa Valley, Evan Neumann served as Chef de Cuisine at Essential by Christophe in New York. He has also held the role of Executive Sous Chef at Restaurant Daniel and worked as Sous Chef at La Dame de Pic – Le 1920 at Four Seasons Hotel Megève.

His training at the Ecole Hoteliere d’Avignon and early career experience at La Maison de Bournissac in France laid the foundation for his culinary journey, which has since evolved across multiple fine dining establishments.

    Culinary Philosophy and Approach

Speaking on his appointment, Evan Neumann said:

“What drew me to Auro is everything coming together in one place, the terroir of Napa Valley, Four Seasons standards of service excellence, and the opportunity to build something with a distinctive culinary identity and longevity, rooted in both French technique and the richness of California’s seasonal products. My approach is rooted in the ingredients. I want every dish to reflect the season, the land, and the hands that grew it. Great cuisine starts with exceptional products, but it is great teams that create unforgettable restaurants.”

His philosophy emphasises seasonality, ingredient integrity, and collaboration within the kitchen, aligning with the broader expectations of contemporary fine dining.

    Leadership Perspective from the Property

Commenting on the appointment, Robby Delaney, General Manager, Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley, said:

“Evan’s appointment reflects our long-term commitment to Auro as an enduring culinary destination, not just in Napa Valley, but across the Four Seasons portfolio in the Americas. From the first tasting, the clarity was immediate, the precision of his technique, the refinement in his sauce work, the depth of his vegetable dishes. But what struck me most was how much he respects this place. The land, the producers, the way we live here. That, paired with his discipline and his ability to bring a team together, is exactly what this next chapter needs.”

Strengthening Auro’s Position in Napa Valley

Auro, as a Michelin-starred restaurant, plays a significant role in positioning the resort within Napa Valley’s competitive culinary landscape. Leadership in the kitchen is central to maintaining quality, innovation, and consistency.

The appointment of Evan Neumann supports the restaurant’s objective of strengthening its identity while continuing to deliver refined dining experiences.

    Focus on Ingredient-Driven Cuisine

Napa Valley’s strong agricultural base provides access to high-quality, seasonal ingredients. Evan Neumann’s focus on ingredient-driven cuisine aligns with the region’s emphasis on local sourcing and farm-to-table dining.

    Positioning for Continued Culinary Excellence

With a combination of international experience, technical expertise, and a clear culinary philosophy, Evan Neumann’s appointment is expected to support Auro’s continued growth and recognition within the fine dining segment.
