Cygnett Hotels & Resorts has signed its ninth property in Northeast India with Cygnett Park Guwahati, scheduled to open in July 2026, the company announced Wednesday.
The hotel will be developed in partnership with SRKS Hospitalities Private Limited, featuring 108 rooms and suites, a bar, approximately 9,000 square feet of banqueting and conference space, a spa, fitness center, swimming pool and recreational facilities, according to a release.
The property is strategically located on the border of Guwahati and Meghalaya, about 45 minutes from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and roughly 15 minutes from the city center—a location officials say will appeal to both leisure and business travelers.
Sarbendra Sarkar, founder and managing director of Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, said “We were one of the first branded hospitality chains to establish a presence in Northeast India. We are steadily moving toward a 2,000 key footprint in the region by 2029.” He added, “With over ₹4.3 lakh crore worth of investments announced at the Rising Northeast Summit 2025 the hospitality sector in the region is poised for robust growth.”
The signing follows the recent announcement of Cygnett Park Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh, part of a broader expansion plan in northeast India.
“Cygnett Park Guwahati is perfectly positioned to become a preferred address for business travellers vacationers bespoke corporate gatherings and grand destination weddings perfectly complementing the Government of India’s renewed efforts to promote growth in this vibrant region,” the release said.
Sarkar said that Cygnett plans to open 12 to 15 properties annually across India, with Northeast India a key target for the group’s growth.
Cygnett currently has eight other hotels in Northeast India, in operation or development.
The company’s Northeast portfolio includes existing properties in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and other states, aligning with its national strategy. The expanded presence in tier two and tier three cities reflects growing infrastructure development and increased investor interest in the region .
Cygnett Park Guwahati will offer modern accommodations and venues suitable for multiple guest segments. The amenities are tailored to support business travel, weddings, corporate events and leisure stays.
The signing reinforces the brand’s dedication to Northeast India, where infrastructural improvements such as highways, railways and telecommunications are underway, supported by both government investment and corporate engagement.
The company estimates moving toward a 2,000 key presence in Northeast India by 2029 and plans to continue annual openings of up to 15 hotels across India.
