United Launches Starlink Tracker for Passengers
United Airlines has announced that Starlink Wi-Fi is now available on nearly half of its daily departures. The airline has also launched a digital tracking tool to help travellers check whether their upcoming flight is scheduled to offer Starlink connectivity and extended its “Switch to Better Wi-Fi” status match campaign to October 22.
The new tool, available at StarlinkTracker.United.com, was developed in response to customer demand and provides updates on the airline’s Starlink rollout. Its statistics are refreshed daily, while flight availability information is updated in real time to reflect last-minute aircraft changes.
Passengers can enter their travel dates and flight numbers within three days of departure to check Starlink availability. The tracker also displays the number of aircraft and daily departures equipped with the service, installations across regional, narrowbody and widebody aircraft, and availability at United’s hubs in Chicago, Newark, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston and Denver.
Airline Extends Wi-Fi Status Match Campaign
United has extended its “Switch to Better Wi-Fi” status match offer by an additional week in response to strong demand. Within less than two weeks of the campaign, thousands of customers had taken advantage of the offer.
Status match applications during the campaign were 275% higher than pre-campaign levels. New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco recorded the highest participant volumes, followed by Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Chicago.
“Starlink gives customers even more reasons to choose United and keep coming back,” said Andrew Nocella, United’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer. “The overwhelmingly positive feedback from our customers and strong response to our ‘Switch to Better Wi-Fi’ status match offer show how much that matters. Our new tracker makes it easier for customers to see which flights they can experience it on as we quickly expand Starlink across our fleet.”
Starlink Availability Across United’s Network
United also informs customers when their flight is scheduled to offer Starlink through pre-flight emails, text notifications and the flight status page in its mobile app. Onboard announcements and aircraft signage provide additional information to passengers.
The airline currently has more Starlink-equipped aircraft than any other airline globally and is installing the service on approximately 20 aircraft each week. United plans to complete installations across its fleet by the end of 2027.
More than 250,000 United customers, on average, travel daily on Starlink-equipped aircraft across more than 2,500 flights, representing nearly half of the airline’s daily departures.
More Than 635 Aircraft Equipped with Starlink
Starlink is now active on more than 635 United mainline and United Express aircraft. The airline has already carried more than 37.7 million passengers on Starlink-powered aircraft across over 538,000 flights, with the service supporting 14 million devices.
The expansion and new tracking tool are intended to give passengers greater visibility into connectivity availability as United continues to equip more aircraft with Starlink.
