Seclude Hotels has unveiled Seclude Hampi 1800, a six-bedroom royal heritage residence in Sandur, introducing a deeply immersive way to stay near one of India’s most historically layered regions. Located close to Hampi, the property brings a rare residential hospitality experience to a destination better known for its monuments than for intimate, character-led stays.
A Royal Home Reimagined, Not Repurposed
Seclude Hampi 1800 occupies one of the former residences of the Royal family of Sandur. The restoration approach was deliberately restrained, focusing on conservation rather than conversion. Original carved artefacts, period paintings, and heirloom brass pieces belonging to the royal family have been retained and carefully integrated into the living spaces, ensuring the home’s lineage remains visible and authentic.
Rather than masking history with modern overlays, the restoration allows guests to inhabit a space where time is layered, and heritage is lived in rather than displayed.

Gardens, Architecture, and a Sense of Stillness
Set within palm-lined gardens, the residence reflects the traditional architectural language of the region. Its design and layout encourage quiet reflection, offering a retreat that feels far removed from conventional hotels while remaining within comfortable distance of Hampi’s temples, ruins, and historic marketplaces.
The setting allows guests to explore Hampi by day and return to a private, unhurried environment by evening, creating a balance between discovery and repose.
Six Rooms, Each Rooted in Local Meaning
The residence features six individually named rooms, each drawing inspiration from Hampi’s cultural and historical fabric. Bazaar Yellow references the once-thriving Hampi Bazaar, a centre of commerce and community life. Lotus Pink takes inspiration from the sacred lotus associated with Lord Vishnu, echoing the spiritual symbolism that defines the region.
This naming approach adds narrative depth, allowing each room to serve as a subtle entry point into the stories of the landscape beyond the walls.

Founders on Choosing Sandur and Preserving the Soul of the Home
Explaining the choice of location, Ramit Sethi, Founder of Seclude Hotels, said,
“We chose Sandur because it reflects what Seclude stands for — offbeat destinations with a strong sense of story. Being so close to the rich, timeless heritage of Hampi gives this home a soul that you simply cannot recreate. It’s a place with character, shaped by its own story.”
Rohit Sethi, Founder of Seclude Hotels, added,
“This home holds deep historical and emotional value. Our vision was not to convert it into a hotel, but to allow guests to experience it as a living heritage space — where stories, architecture, and hospitality come together naturally.”
An Intimate Gateway to Hampi’s Living History
With Seclude Hampi 1800, Seclude Hotels continues to build a portfolio rooted in narrative-driven, offbeat destinations. The property offers travellers a chance to engage with Hampi not as tourists passing through, but as guests temporarily inhabiting a home shaped by centuries of history, culture, and continuity.
