Olive by Embassy, the hospitality division of Embassy Group, has launched Open Hotels, a fully remote-operated, AI-native hotel brand billed as the world’s first of its kind, the company announced Thursday.
The brand integrates AI, live video reception and remote operations to significantly reduce onsite staff requirements. Unlike traditional hotels that maintain a staff-to-room ratio of 0.7, Open Hotels operates at a ratio of approximately 0.3, achieving a 57 percent efficiency gain while centralising front-desk and administrative functions.
“Hospitality is all about the human touch. Technology is enhancing that by taking over the routine tasks, which frees us to focus more on our guests and the experiences we create for them. It’s not replacing hospitality, it is elevating it,” said Kahraman Yigit, chief executive officer and co-founder of Olive by Embassy. He added that generative AI would play a key role in the model going forward .
Open Hotels offers two operational models. The first is a franchise model where hotel owners manage their own teams but benefit from Open’s full technology suite. The second model gives owners the option to have Open centrally run operations via its AI command centre. Both options are designed to be plug-and-play with no capital expenditure required by the owners.
Yigit noted that Open Hotels was the first to use video-conference–based reception and that layering in Voice AI and analytics had led to improvements in guest satisfaction and profit margins. He also said the platform aims to systematise India’s unbranded hotel sector and that the technology has global potential.
Currently, Olive operates 12 Open-branded properties across Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Mysore, Hyderabad and Vijayawada—these are brownfield conversions of existing hotels.
The company plans to scale to 130 Open Hotels in India by the end of fiscal year 2026, targeting ₹200 crore in revenue, and aims for a total of 1,000 properties by 2030 with international expansion under consideration. Open Hotels has applied for a U.S. patent for its remote hotel management system.
According to reports, India’s hospitality sector currently has about 2.5 million rooms, creating significant opportunity for a one million room branded network.
As Olive by Embassy expands its Olive Hotels brand, which targets the mid-segment market with youthful and design-led properties, it also offers an AI-enhanced model through Open Hotels to serve unbranded or budget tier properties. The company says this hybrid strategy supports rapid growth using minimal capital and operational resources.
By merging robotics, AI, and remote management, Open Hotels could significantly shift hospitality norms in India. With customer interactions handled centrally and routine tasks automated, Olive by Embassy hopes the brand will offer consistent service, streamlined operations and improved profitability for property owners.
