Crowne Plaza Lucknow, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, has announced the appointment of Jai Upadhyay as its new Director of Sales and Marketing, the hotel said Friday.
Upadhyay brings over 14 years of experience in the hospitality sector, having worked with renowned brands such as Leela, ITC, lebua and Hilton, according to the announcement. He previously held leadership roles that focused on commercial strategy, guest engagement and revenue growth.

In his role, Upadhyay will lead sales initiatives and marketing campaigns aimed at boosting revenue, enhancing brand visibility and forging new corporate partnerships. He will oversee a team responsible for client engagement, group bookings and promotional activities in the Lucknow and neighbouring markets.
Crowne Plaza Lucknow launched earlier this year as a major addition to IHG’s premium portfolio. The property features upscale amenities including meeting and event venues, a spa, multiple dining outlets and modern business facilities. It targets business travellers, MICE guests and leisure visitors seeking quality service in the city.
Industry observers note that hospitality chains in India are prioritising sales and marketing leadership as competition grows in emerging markets. Upadhyay’s appointment reflects the hotel’s strategy to establish a strong commercial foundation and capture demand in the rapidly expanding Uttar Pradesh travel sector.
