In an exclusive and in-depth conversation with Hotelier Buzz, Ratan Kant Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of Triton Hotels & Resorts, and Jui Sharma, Director at Triton Group, share their vision for the evolving landscape of Indian hospitality. From expansion strategies and the rise of emerging destinations to India’s growing prominence as a wedding hub and the deeper purpose behind luxury, the duo reflects on building destinations that are thoughtful, culturally rooted and future-ready.
Below are edited excerpts from the conversation:
Q1. Triton Hotels and Resorts has been steadily expanding. What are your expansion plans going forward?
Ratan Kant Sharma & Jui Sharma: Triton Hotels and Resorts is focused on thoughtful and sustainable expansion across India, with a strong emphasis on greenfield projects and emerging destinations. We see significant potential in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, especially with improved infrastructure such as new airports and enhanced highway connectivity.
These destinations are witnessing a rise in demand from luxury travellers and are achieving strong room rates. For us, expansion is not merely about increasing scale; it is about creating destinations that uplift local communities, preserve cultural identity and deliver long-term value for both owners and guests. Our growth strategy is guided by responsibility, intent and a clear commitment to quality over quantity.

Q2. What is your vision for the future of hospitality in India?
Ratan Kant Sharma & Jui Sharma: We believe the future of Indian hospitality lies in authenticity, emotional connection and purpose-led luxury. Today’s traveller is seeking experiences that feel personal, rooted in local culture and reflective of a strong sense of place.
Our vision is to create hotels that blend heritage with modern refinement, where craftsmanship, wellness, sustainability and storytelling come together seamlessly. While technology will continue to enhance operational efficiency, it will never replace the importance of human warmth.
True luxury in India will not be defined by excess, but by how deeply a guest feels welcomed, understood and connected to the destination.
Q3. India is increasingly becoming a preferred wedding destination. How do you see this space evolving?
Ratan Kant Sharma & Jui Sharma: India’s cultural richness, architectural grandeur and deep-rooted emotional connection to celebration make it a natural choice for destination weddings. We see Fairmont Jaipur as an exceptional setting for intimate and meaningful weddings that prioritise privacy, design and experience over sheer scale.
Modern couples today are choosing destinations that offer history, distinctive aesthetics and highly personalised service. With global interest in Indian weddings rising steadily, our aim is to honour traditions while providing contemporary comfort, refined planning and seamless execution. Every celebration should feel deeply personal and thoughtfully curated.

Q4. Is there anything else you would like to share about Triton’s philosophy and initiatives?
Ratan Kant Sharma & Jui Sharma: Beyond expansion and curated experiences, we are deeply committed to preserving craftsmanship and supporting local artisans. From hand-painted ceilings to intricate inlay furniture, design in our hotels is approached as storytelling rather than decoration.
Wellness is also an evolving focus area. At Raffles Jaipur, for instance, the spa philosophy integrates global wellness practices with India’s rich healing traditions, creating immersive and restorative journeys for guests.
At its core, Triton’s philosophy is simple: luxury should feel meaningful, responsible and emotional. We have also introduced a programme to train and employ college dropout youth, offering them structured learning across hotel departments and helping them build sustainable livelihoods.
Ultimately, if guests leave with memories that bring a genuine smile — rather than simply a recollection of an opulent stay — we believe we have truly succeeded.
