Hafele India has achieved a major engineering milestone with the successful installation of the world’s tallest movable wall at the ONGC Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Standing 22 metres tall and spanning 48.1 metres in width, the installation highlights advancements in engineering precision, spatial flexibility, and large-scale architectural solutions. The project has been designed to support the efficient transformation of convention spaces while maintaining high standards of acoustic performance and operational functionality.
Hafele India Delivers Advanced Acoustic and Spatial Solution
The movable wall system provides 57 dB sound insulation, enabling convention and exhibition spaces to be reconfigured without compromising acoustic performance. Built using 1500 mm wide panels, the solution has been engineered to ensure smooth movement and seamless operation across a large span.
The installation demonstrates the growing demand for adaptable infrastructure solutions that can accommodate varying event and operational requirements.
Frank Schloeder Highlights Engineering Achievement
Commenting on the milestone, Frank Schloeder, Managing Director, Hafele South Asia, said:
“This is a significant milestone for Hafele India and a strong reflection of our ability to execute complex, high-performance projects at scale. This project showcases the power of Co-Creation & Co-Engineering, where close collaboration and expertise come together as we continue to push boundaries in support of world-class infrastructure in India.”
Ashish Aundhkar Details Project Execution
Adding to this, Ashish Aundhkar, Business Head – Partitions & Automatics, Hafele India, said:
“Delivering a solution of this scale required precise planning and coordination across multiple teams and interfaces. The system has been engineered as a large-format movable wall solution designed to handle significant span and height requirements, while ensuring strong acoustic performance and controlled sealing for stability. A precision track-switching mechanism enables smooth and reliable movement of panels, allowing the space to be reconfigured efficiently based on operational needs.”
Collaborative Approach Drives Project Success
The project was delivered through a collaborative effort involving C. P. Kukreja Architects, Engineers India Limited, VRC, and Hafele India. The initiative reflects Hafele’s Co-Creation & Co-Engineering approach, which focuses on working closely with project stakeholders to develop customised solutions tailored to specific infrastructure requirements.
The installation at the ONGC Convention & Exhibition Centre stands as a significant example of large-scale engineering and space optimisation, reinforcing Hafele India’s commitment to delivering high-performance solutions for complex projects.
