Cygnett Hotels & Resorts Expands in Bihar with Motihari Signing
The addition of Cygnett Inn Motihari strengthens the company’s presence in Bihar, a market where organised hospitality infrastructure continues to evolve alongside regional economic activity and improved connectivity.
Motihari, located in East Champaran district, has emerged as an important regional centre supported by trade, educational activity, and increasing business movement. The city also holds historical significance as the location associated with Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagraha movement.
For hospitality operators, regional markets such as Motihari are increasingly becoming attractive as branded hotel demand expands beyond traditional metro and primary city markets.
Cygnett Inn Motihari to Feature 70 Rooms and Event Infrastructure
Cygnett Inn Motihari will feature 70 rooms designed to cater to business travellers, leisure guests, and social event demand in the market.
The property will include an all-day dining restaurant, gymnasium, spa, and swimming pool, positioning it as a full-service midscale hospitality offering.
A significant part of the development will focus on meetings, weddings, and social events, reflecting the importance of event-driven hospitality demand in regional Indian markets.
The hotel will include a 5,500 sq. ft. banquet hall connected to a 17,000 sq. ft. outdoor lawn, creating capacity for weddings and large-scale social gatherings.
The property will also feature two dedicated meeting spaces measuring approximately 1,600 sq. ft. and 575 sq. ft., supporting conferences, corporate meetings, and private events.
Leadership Commentary
Commenting on the development, Sarbendra Sarkar, Founder and Managing Director, Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, said:
“Hospitality demand in India is increasingly expanding beyond traditional metro markets. We are witnessing growing demand for quality branded accommodation and event infrastructure across emerging cities, driven by regional economic activity, improving connectivity, and evolving travel patterns. Motihari represents an important market with strong long-term potential, and this signing aligns with our strategy of strengthening our presence across high-growth destinations.”
Regional Hospitality Growth Context
India’s hospitality expansion increasingly continues to move into secondary and emerging urban markets, where improved connectivity, regional business activity, domestic travel, and event demand are creating new opportunities for organised hotel brands.
Midscale hospitality brands remain particularly active in such markets due to their ability to serve a broad mix of business, social, and leisure demand.
For operators, regional cities with event infrastructure gaps often present opportunities beyond pure room demand.
Outlook
With the signing of Cygnett Inn Motihari, Cygnett Hotels & Resorts continues to deepen its regional expansion strategy while strengthening its presence in Bihar’s evolving hospitality market.
