The Westin Mumbai Garden City has announced the promotion of Chef Sameer Karkare to the position of Executive Sous Chef, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences and operational excellence.
Having progressed through key culinary leadership roles within the hotel, Chef Sameer takes on the new position after making significant contributions to the property’s dining offerings and guest experiences.

Chef Sameer brings more than 10 years of experience across leading hospitality brands, with expertise in culinary leadership, menu innovation, kitchen operations, concept development, menu engineering, team training, and operational excellence.
Prior to his promotion, he served as Chef de Cuisine at Prego, where he played a key role in enhancing the restaurant’s authentic Italian cuisine and curating memorable dining experiences.
He has also worked as a Culinary Development Chef, contributing to the successful launch of multiple restaurants across India through concept development, kitchen setup, menu planning, and culinary operations.
His professional journey includes tenures with Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, Cin Cin BKC, The Leela Mumbai, Taj Lands’ End, and InterContinental Marine Drive.
Leading Culinary Innovation
A graduate in Hotel Management & Catering Operations, Chef Sameer has earned several industry accolades, including being a three-time Silver Medallist at the Great Indian Culinary Challenge (2011, 2012, and 2013). His achievements also include the International Hospitality Day Award (IHC-IIHM), Trainer of the Month Award, and Care for Associates Award. During his tenure at Taj Lands’ End, he was twice nominated for the prestigious S.T.A.R.S. Recognition Award.
Known for his passion for mentoring young chefs and building high-performing culinary teams, Chef Sameer will now oversee culinary operations across the hotel while driving innovation, maintaining quality standards, and enhancing guest satisfaction.
